Kelly Rutherford Makes Rare Public Appearance with Son Hermés, 18, at Paris Fashion Week
Kelly Rutherford and her son, Hermés Giersch, stepped out in style this weekend, making a rare public appearance together at Paris Fashion Week.
On Saturday, March 8, the Gossip Girl actress, 56, attended the Elie Saab Womenswear Fall/Winter 2025/2026 show at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris alongside her 18-year-old son. The duo was photographed enjoying the event, marking another public outing together after many years away from the spotlight.
A Stylish Mother-Son Moment
Rutherford dazzled in a gold-embroidered midi dress featuring sheer sleeves and intricate floral sequins. She completed her elegant look with brown sunglasses, white pumps, and a subtle pink lip, while keeping her blonde hair sleek and tucked behind her ears. Meanwhile, Hermés opted for a timeless ensemble, wearing a crisp white button-down shirt, navy blue trousers, and coordinating navy-and-white sneakers, accessorized with his own stylish sunglasses.
This latest appearance follows their outing at Couture Fashion Week in Paris this past January, where Rutherford attended multiple events with her son. She wore a black long-sleeved dress to the Chanel show and a floral-print dress to the Rahul Mishra presentation, while Hermés maintained a classic look with a dark suit and white shirt.
A Return to the Public Eye
Earlier this week, Rutherford and Hermés also attended the TIME Womenswear Fall/Winter 2025-2026 show. She wore a chic gray two-piece suit, cinched at the waist with a matching belt, paired with a brown leather bag and white pumps. Hermés kept to his signature style with a white shirt, navy trousers, and a black jacket, finishing off his look with white sneakers.
Life After a Lengthy Custody Battle
Rutherford shares Hermés and her 16-year-old daughter, Helena, with her ex-husband, German businessman Daniel Giersch. The former couple’s contentious custody battle, which began in 2009, resulted in Rutherford spending nearly $2 million in legal fees and ultimately relocating to Monaco.
In a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, Rutherford reflected on the difficult period and expressed gratitude for where she and her children are today.
“Yes, it was a challenging time. It was a heartbreaking time. But I focus on the good most of the time, I really do,” she said. “I’m very thankful for where we are. I have a great relationship with my kids.”
With her return to the public eye alongside her son, Rutherford appears to be embracing a new chapter, celebrating fashion, family, and a fresh start.
