The compassionate staff at the shelter are well aware that life is anything but perfect, and unforeseen circumstances can completely turn things upside down. It could be a loss of employment, a need to downsize housing, a family breakdown or a failed relationship – the shelter staff witness firsthand the devastating aftermath of such events.
Our shelter is unique in that we accept every animal that is brought to us. We understand that many surrenders are due to unexpected life changes, and we don’t judge anyone for needing our help. However, we do have a few requests of our community. First and foremost, we ask that you exhaust all other options before bringing your pet to us. Reach out to local rescues and try to rehome your pet on your own first. If that’s not possible, please provide us with a detailed description of your pet so that we can find them the best home possible. And most importantly, we ask for honesty. We know that surrendering a beloved pet is never an easy decision, but being truthful about your circumstances helps us better care for your animal.
Meet Kane, an adorable four-year-old who came to us as a stray two months ago. Despite being left without any identification, we were able to locate his registered owner through his microchip. We were thrilled to have found Kane’s owner, who revealed that she had gone through a recent divorce and had to relocate out of state. She even provided us with all the necessary information about Kane. However, our excitement was short-lived when we discovered that Kane’s owner was the one who had abandoned him and reported him as a stray.
Kane, a lovable dog, was unfortunately caught in the midst of collateral damage. His owners did not want to take him back but this has not affected his cheerful demeanor. Kane is always happy to receive attention and is quite affectionate towards people. He has a great temperament and gets along well with other dogs. Despite his small and muscular 40lb frame, he remains gentle and goofy. However, despite being with us for over two months, Kane has received minimal attention from outsiders, apart from staff and volunteers.
Despite being surrendered, Kane remains hopeful in finding love. He deserves a forever home with a caring and dedicated owner who values the lifelong commitment of having a furry companion. Those who have spent time with Kane can attest to his desire for affection and attention – he doesn’t need material possessions, just a warm embrace and gentle words. Kane’s ideal day consists of lounging on his owner’s lap in the sun, relishing the comfort of their touch and the warmth of their smile.
