Grimes Speaks Out Against Elon Musk Sharing Their Kids’ Lives Publicly: ‘It’s Very Concerning’
Grimes has revealed that she has repeatedly asked Elon Musk to keep their three children out of the public eye, even resorting to legal action.
In a March 13 post on X, the 36-year-old musician expressed her frustration after a fan asked how she protects her children from online exposure. “I have tried begging the public and my kid’s dad to keep them offline, and I’ve tried legal recourse,” she wrote, adding that the public nature of her children’s lives is a “grave concern.”
The post follows Musk’s recent appearance at the White House with their 4-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii, an event Grimes says she only learned about through social media. Responding to a follower at the time, she wrote, “He should not be in public like this… But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, emphasized the challenges of protecting children in the digital age, calling the situation “the Wild West of information content and the dismantling of privacy.” She also expressed her wish for laws that would allow parents to veto their children’s public exposure but admitted she has little faith in legal solutions.
Grimes and Musk, who dated for three years before splitting in 2021, share three children: X Æ A-Xii, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and Techno Mechanicus, 2. Their relationship and co-parenting dynamic have been widely discussed, particularly as Musk, 53, is now a father to 14 children with multiple partners.
Despite her concerns, Grimes said she can only ask people to respect her children’s privacy. “I would really, really appreciate that,” she told Time in February. “I can only ask, so I’m just asking.”
